In today’s increasingly competitive automotive market, the recent booming popularity of the crossover—also known as the CUV—has threatened to turn the entire market on its head, but in a positive way. The general crossover concept implements the most favorable elements of the sedan and coagulates them with the most favorable elements of the SUV. The crossover typically features the engine platform and mechanical engineering of the sedan—the Honda CR-V operating with the mechanical platform of the Honda Civic, for example—whilst exploring AWD or 4WD capabilities that were previously only known to SUVs and trucks. Thus, the crossover drives with the pep and eager mobility of the sedan, closely operates under similar (in some cases better) fuel economy statistics, and is sold brand new at MSRPs that are unfathomably cutthroat.

Why not enjoy the best of both worlds?

One of the most renowned crossovers to hit the automotive market is the Kia Soul. While the brand new 2018 Kia Soul model features the most innovative automotive and safety technology available today, its predecessor from last year features an equally stunning array of technological and safety features that make both models a sheer pleasure to own and drive.

History

Kia Motors is the second-largest automobile production company in South Korea, and was founded in December of 1944. Originally, Kia motors (known as Kyungsung Precision Industry at the time) produced steel tubing and bicycle parts, until in 1952 the company established its presence as Kia Motors and released its first prototype motorcycle in 1957. Kia Motors began producing small trucks and cars between 1962 and 1974, but due to eventual industry consolidations Kia Motors was forced to solely produce and manufacture light trucks. In 1986, Kia Motors made a remarkable comeback in a newly established partnership with Ford, and in 1992 the first Kia automobile crossed its way into the United States.

Performance

In terms of performance, the 2018 Kia Soul takes a specific focus toward building a crossover that perfectly blends elements of utilitarianism and sporty charisma. Enjoy a 201-horsepower (on select models) turbocharged engine equipped with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that will deliver you the most spirited drive imaginable, all with high-bucket seating and fuel economy statistics (27/30) that are quite frankly incredible for a compact crossover of that size and mechanical dynamic. Enjoy improved safety technologies such as Hill-Start Assist Control, Traction Control Systems, Electronic Stability Control, Vehicle Stability Management for harsh weather conditions, to make you feel confident and ready to drive when you climb behind the wheel of the new 2018 Kia Soul.
